Our girl's personality and talents are unfolding and we are in constant amazement of her. What we've noticed to be consistent so far, though it is still very early to see what is true, Beatrice is a babbling, active little ham when in our hotel room, and goes into her shy, serious, lethargic persona as soon as we head out the door. Even her body changes tremendously, as she clenches her fists tightly and stiffens her legs when we're out, it's really interesting. She doesn't seem unhappy, just very different. Last night was not nearly as easy for sleep. She woke up around midnight next to me and I opened my eyes and she just starts laughing hysterically and was banging on my hips and climbing all over me for the next couple of hours. Yeah, sounds cute, but by 2 a.m. I'd had it and decided it was a good time to experiment with the benadryl. She finally fell asleep again until 5:20, then had a bottle and was out til 7:00. This morning she fought sleep and finally had a "Buddha nap" (on daddy's belly) for about an hour. She's fussing now and I think is ready to eat. We're meeting up with someone from the U.S., a friend of a friend, who lives here in Hanoi half the year, and are anxious to do so. This afternoon Anthony goes to pick up Beatrice's passport. Monday we visit the SOS clinic for a physical exam, then we have a visa interview Tues. or Wed., and hopefully everything will be in order for us to receive the visa and leave as scheduled next Thursday night. We hope to attend mass this weekend and do some sightseeing, which has come all but a standstill for good reason the past couple of days. Here are more photos for her demanding onlookers. Thank you to Aunties T & B for my beautiful outfit. It fits to perfection! Miss you all. Again apologies for the photo quality. The room's lighting is just terrible. But I figure so-so pictures are better than none, right???
This blog started as an online journal of our trip to Hanoi, Vietnam to pick up our daughter Beatrice (Hanh Minh), and now chronicles our journey through life together as a family of three....

Will the real Beatrice please stand up?

A beautiful little girl
Came into the world
Alone and cold and wanting.
There were no kin to take her in
Her future so uncertain
The loneliness mirrored in the abyss,
Her sad eyes deep and staring
"Won't someone, anyone, please, come, please!
Come show your love and caring."
Eternity passed, and passed, and passed
And then a miracle, "oh at last!"
Two longing souls,
With hearts to fill to brimming
They found this little longing babe
Just as all hope was dimming.
What joy, what joy, these three now share
Their hearts so full, they're weeping
They weep with thanks, with heartfelt thanks
Forever more the keeping.

What a rare moment in time when Louise is the sibling of the Brodeur family who has yet to say a word! I am completely overwhelmed with joy to vicariously experience this journey with the new love of all of our lives! It is difficult for me to get through a single blog without heading for the box of tissues! I feel that it is as it should be that Beatrice was born in Vietnam a land that represents so much of Anthony and Michelle's heritage while she grew in all of our hearts during the next chapter of her life. Her beautiful smile (can't believe all those teeth!) says it all! I cannot wait to meet this unique litle soul. I look forward to getting to know her and having her teach me more than I can possibly teach her. Until then- Je t'aime et je t'embrasse. Louise

What an incredible journey and such a beautiful baby! Congradulations and looking forward to meeting Beatrice.
Hey Michelle and Anthony and Bea,
We just got back from Berlin! Ian and Kev and I talked about you alot there esp on Easter. Love your photos. Love your blog. I remember you in Woodstock MS talking about this journey that was going to happen in 1996. It does still blow my mind but warms my heart more. "We are on a mystical journey, n'est ce pas?" We are very connected to you right now. Traveling mercies to you on your trip back to CT.
love you,
Susan
