We had an awesome Memorial Day Weekend with time in Worcester on Saturday and a hometown parade on Monday. Sunday was a gorgeous day and we headed to Newport with Hera. We walked part of the Cliff Walk, flew the kite at Breton Point, had lunch on Thames Street, and window shopped. Here are some highlights!:
This blog started as an online journal of our trip to Hanoi, Vietnam to pick up our daughter Beatrice (Hanh Minh), and now chronicles our journey through life together as a family of three....

| 2015 Happy 7th Birthday to my amazing Beatrice Minh Hanh. The world is such a better place since you became part of it. What a gift we gave ourselves the day we said "Yes!" to you! |
and after school the celebration consisted of time at the park with Samm,
a trip to Michael's to finish off her gift card, dinner at Mexican Grill,
and back home for some Clue, MahJong,
slug slinging with her new blasters,
and a light saber battle with Daddy.

First Degree Fox, First Communion, and Up a Tree #7
Beatrice had her first belt testing in Aikido last Saturday. Aikido is big on formality and there were lots of rules to remember. Bowing, acknowledging the senseis, walking backward at the end, etc. But she did it! She looked so little out there all by herself!
She had to do forward rolls in a line, count to 10 in Japanese, model positions,
Sit in perfect position and be "checked" by one of the older students:
She got a rousing applause at the end, and here she is, looking at us, the only people whose approval she really deeply cares at all about:
Lolo and Lola witnessed the whole thing and here's my 1st degree fox, sitting on the lap of her proud, blubbering Mama:
Back home we went to quickly snap some photos in the magnolia tree which finally bloomed!
(and here's one a couple days ago before all the blossoms fell)
Saturday afternoon was another important ceremony/milestone: Hank's First Communion!
A wonderful day, wonderful weekend, and exciting time of year to be sure.
