Peace, Love, and Rock and Roll

That's the shirt Anthony bought for Bizou many months ago during a visit to Old Navy and last night she finally had a chance to wear it.  Seven families and three agency staff went out to The Lotus, in the West Lake section of the city.  It's  huge banquet-facility with about a dozen stations of Vietnamese and other Asian foods and desserts.  It was a lot of fun to see seven babies and their parents wandering about, and we all got to celebrate having our visas. Bizou had her first taste of her national dish, pho, and loved it.  The first of the families left today, most of us leave tomorrow, and some leave after that.  We met two of the new families whose G&R is this afternoon and they were beyond excited to meet our children.  This morning we did some sightseeing, taking a taxi over to the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, but couldn't view the tomb because we it was only open in the morning.  Then nearby was  One Pillar Pagoda, an iconic Vietnamese temple which Emperor Ly constructed around 1055 in gratitude for his wife bearing him a son (the original was destroyed by the French in the war and this reconstructed one was erected in 1955) and visiting the Vietnamese Quilt Shop, a fair-trade quilt shop that employs rural woman of Vietnam. We stopped along the way to smell the roses, and picked up a hat from the Sapa Valley at a store where items from Vietnam's ethnical minorities are sold. As you can tell from photos, I'm all done with the long-sleeve rule as the weather is really hot and humid now.  Luckily there was a bit of a breeze, but long walks are now out of the question.  We came home and at lunch next door at Hanoi Garden, which is incredibly good, then napped.  Tonight we're going out to Suzanne's place for dinner and to meet her daughter.  The clock is rapidly ticking down and we leave Hanoi in just over 24 hours.  We're trying to get everything in that we want to do, but know we'll have to leave some things for another visit.

Oh my gosh!!! I can't believe it is time for you guys to come home. Enjoy that last moments of Vietnam, you won't be able to replicate the excitment of meeting your baby for the first time, but there will be tons of new moments of excitment to come. We are excited to meet Baby Bea in person and Truman and Hank will finally get to put a person to the pictures they have seen. Hopefully we will connect once we return from vacation. Have a safe trip--Love you guys!!!

OK now kristin is looking at the pictures and her first comment was "why is that girl holding Bizou, what is she doing"... I think Miss B is going to be one protected little girl growing up.

OK still admiring the pictures and we blew up the one of you and B in front of some temple and her face shows nothin' but lovin' my Mama!!!!!!!

Kristin is still a little steamy about "some chick holding Bizou" I actually find it quite funny. She is funny and now I'm learning quite teritorial!!!!!!!
