Bea started weekly dance class in May, just in time to be included in the June full-studio ballet. It was Topsy Turvy/Mother Goose Rhymes, an original composition, and she played the part of one of Little Bo Peep's sheep. We were only allowed photos at the dress rehearsal and flash could not be used, so the quality isn't so great. :
Here she is before the performance opening night:
I put the slightest bit of lipstick on her and instantly a 25-year old Beatrice flashed before my eyes:
Here's one of her big moves in the show...searching for Little Bo Peep!
There are a few jumps choreographed in as well,
and some squats and jumps too!
Being a ballet-er is very, very serious business
Does anyone think she looks a little queazy in the above photo? Well after Beatrice's first part, which is about a 30-second scene in the first five minutes of the show, she went backstage with her friends and, long story short, ended up throwing up for the very first time in her life. I don't know if it was the tuna sandwich I packed her or the 1/2 bag of cool ranch Doritos she ate at my brother's this afternoon, or nerves, or maybe she's allergic to makeup! Regardless, she was embarrassed, her head hurt, and she wanted no part of act II and refused to get back on stage. Furthermore, let's say that the smell of Aqua Net mixed with vomit now has me nauseous! She's saying she's not performing tomorrow. Fingers crossed that she does, and even bigger wishes that we get through the night with no more puking!
***UPDATE***And here are some shots from the next day, Sunday, backstage with the sheep. Beatrice had a fine night and performed beautifully today, so the puke was a fluke!
She's in a very "kissy" phase lately, and above she's going in for one with Lilly, the youngest sheep and new friend.
Here's friend Lucy and her dad Dan, the friend who witnessed and helped clean up B's first vomit. Dan is always making jokes, so the fact that he was the one to get this honor is just perfect!
