BMHF: Existentialist and Foodie

This morning we were early for school dropoff, so I drove around the church cemetery that is right next to the school.  Several family members are buried here, including my maternal grandparents and my dear Uncle/godfather Leon.  I was talking to Bea a little about them and then the questions started.  "Where are they, in the ground or in that stone?" "Why is Memere buried somewhere else in another cemetery?"When are you going to die Mama? I'm going to be so sad." And then, the one I had to pause before answering..."But why are we born Mama? Why are we born if we're going to die?"  I told her we were born to make the world a better place, at least for a little while, and that we were born to love and be loved, and to feel the bright sun on our faces at the beach, and to watch flowers grow and smell the yummy ones when they bloom, and to look at tall mountains and feel very small next to them, and to ride on merry go rounds, and to walk in the woods, and pet soft Sula fur, and to give kisses.  And she quickly and adamantly added "and don't forget to give hugs AND to eat chocolate!  Don't forget about chocolate and ice cream Mama!!!!"  "You're right Bea, how could I forget about chocolate and ice cream?" I replied.

I suspect that many years ago, a Brodeur was a student of Cartesian philosophy.

Hence, the credo can be re-rendered, "Edo, Ergo, Sum"

(I eat, therefore, I am)!
