Me: "Beatrice, on your birthday, you can pick anything you'd like for dinner. What is something Daddy or I makes that you love and would like to have that night....shepherd's pie, adobo, spaghetti....???
Beatrice: "No. I want birthday beans! Anything with beans! I need beans. Maybe bean pie."
fyi: bean pie is a dish whose recipe was given to us by our dear vegan friend who described it as "comfort food."
