I'm writing this as Bea is laying in bed with a 102+ fever and the worst lethargy I've ever seen her experience. We spent Christmas Eve with my family and then went to Maryland through New Years and we were the healthy ones amongst various ill family members, but finally it caught up to us. Anthony and I drove home flu-ish on Friday and just as we were feeling better last night, Bea started with symptoms. So it looks like she'll get at least one more day off before starting school, though she certainly isn't having any fun right now. We had a chance to spend a couple hours with Samantha from Bac Ninh while we were down south, and the girls had a great time playing together.
Hopefully it won't be another two years before the next visit!
The present of 2014 seems to be the card game Sleeping Queens, which Santa brought, and even Lolo and Lola got in on many of the dozens of games we've played:
It's also a crafty Christmas, and here's Bea with her needlepoint kit,
art set,
and headband making kit, which she just loves!
and, since it fits in with a Christmas post, here she is at dance a couple days before the holiday when we were treated to an impromptu recital:
She actually stayed awake until midnight at Tita Lucy's New Year's Eve party!
A good time was had by all. Bring on 2015. Can't believe I'll have a 7-year old in that year!

So great to spend some time with your family, and that Beatrice and Samantha had a chance to play together. Wish we could do it more often.
Happy New Year and a speedy recovery!
