I've threatened it numerous times. To pull into the West Thompson state park that we drive by on the way to school and do a hike instead of go to school/work. I decided today was the day. The sun was shining, Bea was inherited gym clothes. I planned it in advance without her knowing and took the day off. She was in a state of disbelief and then near tears with excitement. It was glorious.
This blog started as an online journal of our trip to Hanoi, Vietnam to pick up our daughter Beatrice (Hanh Minh), and now chronicles our journey through life together as a family of three....

Weekend in Maryland
With a 4-day weekend on their calendars last week, and a great sale from Southwest Airlines offered, I surprised Bea & Anthony with two tickets to Maryland to go to visit the family. They had a blast at the Baltimore Aquarium, visiting a couple awesome bookstores, and attending Miles's birthday party.
Bea spent three of the nights with cousin Linden, sleeping over together at Lola's house, and she came home absolutely and happily exhausted!
and here is this year's school pic. She was excited to wear a purple hair streak, but it didn't show up!

Halloween
We carved alone this year, as the Fulco were out of town. It was a beautiful day and Bea set right to work on the idea she had sketched:
Here's "Flying Ghost Pumpkin with the Souls of other Pumpkins"
Bea chose the costume of Poison Ivy, from DC Comics. She was way cuter than I thought an itchy, blistery rash should ever look, and had lots of fun at the school Halloween dance party.
Happy Halloween!!!!!

Boston and The Dam
One of Anthony's best childhood friends came up with his family for the weekend, and we showed them Newport, Boston, and the local sites. It was a beautiful Saturday morning for a hike, so we headed into the woods at the nearby dam:
Bea took this beautiful picture of an eagle (?) flying over the water:
In Boston, it was another beauty of a day. Bea was more interested in the book Daddy got her at Quincy market than a silly old (very old) cemetery on the Freedom Trail:
